Cerec® is the tradename for an all porcelain computer-designed crown that is fabricated using CAD/CAM technology. The tooth is shaped, and old filling material and decay are removed. Next an optical image impression of the tooth is made with a special camera. Finally, the crown is precisely milled from a solid ceramic block that is then permanently bonded to the patient's prepared tooth. This process can be completed in one visit. There are no temporaries to wear for 2-3 weeks, and no second appointment numbing and fitting of the crown. Cerec restorations are metal-free, so if you have allergies or intolerance to metals as in some jewelry, these restorations will avoid that problem. Recent trends in dentistry suggest replacing old mercury containing silver fillings with non-metallic materials such as solid porcelain. These materials are also kinder to the surrounding tissues. Please feel free to call our office with any questions about Cerec Crowns or any other dental questions you have.

We use digital x-ray imaging to provide better dental care and more accurate diagnoses than ever before.
How Digital X-Rays Work
We place a small sensor in the patient's mouth. The sensor is connected to the computer by a thin wire. The x-ray beam travels through the teeth, bone, and gums and into the sensor. The computer constructs an image that appears on the monitor within a few seconds. This image is magnified many times compared to the film method previously used. The sensor can be repositioned to show other sections of your mouth.
Why Digital X-Rays Are Better
The digital dental x-ray system is more sensitive than a film system, so your exposure to x-rays is cut by as much as 90 percent. The large images make it easier for the dentist to see even the smallest areas of decay, infected teeth, root problems, or bone loss. Thus treatment can be done more conservatively. Also, there are no used photo chemicals or waste film to pollute the environment.
